The Other Glass
This exhibition highlights investigations in glass art made from recycled, repurposed, second-life, and geo-specific glass and includes the work of SDC member Hannah Gibson.
Overview
The Other Glass brings together Hannah Gibson and nine other artists from seven countries exploring recycled, repurposed and second life glass. From discarded bottles and windows to local materials, the exhibition celebrates the resilience, history and beauty of glass through contemporary art. Curated by Tone Ørvik.
Non-traditional glass has been seen as discarded, dirty, difficult. The invited artists focus on the story inherent in the glass itself, its origins, its history, its second life, as much as the personal perspectives they bring to their work - giving evidence to the resilience and beauty of The Other Glass.
Featured artists: Irene Frolic (Canada), Frederik Rombach (Belgium), Hannah Gibson (UK), Jeanne-Sophie Aas (Norway), Gregory Alliss (UK), Debbie Dawson (Ireland), Ioana Stelea (Romania), Mafalda Maya (Portugal), Jeff Zimmer (UK), Lulu Harrison (UK)
