The society promotes and supports the work of creative thinkers, designers and makers who continue to innovate in the crafts through their exploration of materials and skills.
This original '200 Top Authors Award' book in 1993 has been updated and revamped in 2018. A unique feature of this book is the Themes section - a gallery of mouthwatering designs mostly chosen by Jeremy and including the work of Fred Baier, Katie Walker, Thomas Vaughan, Jolyon Yates, Christine Meyer-Eaglestone, Andrew Lawton and John Makepeace. The North Surrey group of the SDC was formed in 1993 with the aim of holding regular, local exhibitions. The present members working within their different disciplines- ceramics, glass, jewellery and textiles - showcase work and present exhibitions that appeal to all. World of Threads Festival, Canada 2018
Sarah Waters LSDC has been selected to exhibit her work at the World Festival of Threads in Toronto, Canada later this year. Her solo gallery will include her Felt Monoliths made mostly from local British wool and shortlisted from thousands of worldwide entries.
Surrey Artists' Open Studios - SDC members Joe Szabo (MSDC) & Stephanie Wright (MSDC) have been shortlisted for Surrey Artist of the Year shortlisted, with an exhibition at New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham starting in September.
Julie Heaton LSDC has had her free machine embroidered drawing selected for this year's Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition. The piece, entitled 'The Bristol 2 Litre Engine', can be found hanging in Grayson Perry's yellow gallery. The RA show continues until 20th August.
