Thursday 3 July Advancing Sustainability in your Practice with QEST, Heritage Crafts and Society of Designer Craftsmen

This panel discussion at New Designers explores how makers can practically enhance sustainability in their craft practice.

The session will explore practical, scalable strategies for advancing sustainability in craft - from material innovation and waste reduction, to adapting traditional methods for contemporary contexts. SDC member Sharon Kearley will be discussing the importance of professional networks and peer communities in supporting sustainable development and knowledge-sharing within the industry.

Friday 4 July Outstanding Innovation in Craft & Design.

SDC will be awarding a partner prize for 'Outstanding Innovation in Craft & Design' judged and awarded by SDC Interim Chair Nikkan Woodhouse and Council members Dan Maier FSDC, Sumi Perera FSDC & Tim Armstrong FSDC. The prize includes free Licentiate Membership of the SDC for two years and the opportunity to exhibit alongside other SDC members at Oxmarket Contemporary in November 2025.

New Designers is an annual exhibition that showcases the work of emerging design talent across a wide range of disciplines. The event is divided into two parts: Week 1, which features design graduates from disciplines such as textiles, fashion, jewellery, ceramics, and more and Week 2, which showcases graduates from graphic design, illustration, animation, product design, motion and digital arts, and other fields.
