Audrey Fasquelle MSDC
Furniture & Boxes
Audrey Fasquelle is a marquetry specialist whose work is rooted in traditional techniques and driven by a deep sensitivity to material. Working primarily with natural wood veneers, she explores how grain, colour variation, and natural defects can become expressive tools rather than constraints. Shading, subtle transitions, and precision cutting play a central role in her practice, allowing imagery and surface to emerge through the inherent character of the wood itself.
Trained in France in marquetry, cabinet making, woodcarving, and woodturning, Audrey’s practice is informed by a broad understanding of wood as both a structural and expressive material. This cross-disciplinary training enables her to approach marquetry not as a purely decorative surface, but as an integral part of furniture, objects, and crafted environments.
Deeply passionate about craft in all its forms, Audrey is driven by a desire to understand processes, share knowledge, and keep traditional skills relevant within a contemporary context. Alongside her own practice, she is actively involved in education, viewing teaching as an essential and ongoing dialogue between makers, materials, and generations.
