Biography Back to top

Fiona became interested in working with fibres after visiting a disused wool mill in the mountains of Portugal over ten years ago. She often uses fibres in a painterly way, layering colour and texture to create expressive pieces, or models and manipulates wool & other fibres to create three dimensional pieces. Fiona says that each piece is created and thought of in layers and textures that are constructed rather than flat. Textures, movement and light are important themes in her work. She is also inspired by social issues of liberty and containment.
