Lynn Baker MSDC

Glass Making & Stained Glass

About Lynn
Lynn enjoys working in both two and three dimensions and works with hot and cold glass. Much of her inspiration comes from the way that the light changes as it crosses the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty where she lives and works. Her work often has a hidden meaning and the breaking down of barriers and boundaries, both physical and human, along with this ever changing light is something that Lynn tries to capture within her work.
Biography Back to top

Lynn specialises in working with the graal technique. Blanks or embryos are formed in the hot glass studio. These consist of layers of coloured and clear glass, and when cool they are heavily sand carved and engraved. The embryos are then reheated, picked up on a blowing iron, coated in clear glass and blown out to the required form.

When working with the kiln Lynn is continuing to develop her own method of sculptural fusing and slumping. Here glass is carefully cut, broken and then rebuilt using the heat of the kiln to fuse together the pieces and slump them over a range of hand made moulds and forms.
