Maggie Tweed MSDC
Mixed Media
Maggie's work is primarily influenced by the stunning landscape of the Pembrokeshire coast where she grew up and continues to visit often. Her semi abstract pieces explore the moods and atmosphere of the places she observes and records. Sketchbooks, notebooks and photographs provide a rich source of inspiration which inform much of her work.
Using various combinations of paint, print, inks, stitch and mark making she explores the nature of the constantly changing surfaces within the ocean & landscape, caused by dramatic changes in the weather, light and seasonal variations. Working on canvas, handmade papers, collaged bases etc her textural approach through combination of mixed media techniques is also a key feature in her work.
As an experienced Further Education and workshop teacher, she encourages students to explore new and exciting possibilities within their work by challenging the norm and pushing boundaries to achieve this.
