Biography Back to top

Working as a woodcarver and traditional joiner, Tom specialises in the use of tools and techniques of the past. Tom emphasises the use of hand tools when creating furniture, or producing carving, not only to keep the tradition alive, but because of the preferred aesthetic that hand tooling provides. Tom has been inspired by medieval craftspeople who left their legacy behind in surviving historical woodwork from the period. The skills that were on show in the heyday of church woodworking are unrivalled to this day. Tom believes that looking to the past and honouring those skills, not only results in a better product, but a one that is full of character. In Tom’s view this approach to woodworking can be both efficient and affordable whilst producing truly one of a kind pieces for his clients.
