Supplementary Weaves Workshop
This two day workshop, taught by Charlotte Grierson FSDC at Cockpit, Deptford, is suitable for early stage weavers through to intermediate level.
Overview
Adding anything to a ground weave that does not cover the whole warp can be considered a supplementary weave. This can be in warp or weft or both. It is great for creating spot patterns, distorting threads and creating textural weaves.
Working on looms set up with a range of different warps; threadings and materials, you will be able to weave samples to try a range of possibilities of supplementary warp and weft. You will have supporting handouts to help and develop your understanding, and will build your confidence to explore and experiment with a wide range of wefts.
Charlotte Grierson has an MA in Textiles and is a handweaver with over 20 years of experience. She designs and makes her own functional and art-led work from her studio at Cockpit in Deptford. She also has over 15 years of experience of teaching practical weaving classes.
