People's Choice Prize
Each year the Society gives the ‘People’s Choice Prize’ to a member taking part in their annual exhibition. The 2023 prize was awarded to fused glass artist Nancy Goodens (LSDC).
Throughout WONDER, the Society's summer 2023 exhibition, visitors were invited to vote for their favourite piece in the show. After the final count of votes the prize was awarded to Nancy Goodens LSDC for 'Porthmeor' her incredible fused glass window.
Nancy said on being awarded the prize:
'I was surprised and delighted to win the People's Prize at Oxmarket Gallery for my Porthmeor window. It was inspired by the unique sea view in St Ives, and created to fit in a huge vintage arched window. This project was my first large-scale fused glass piece, and I created it during a 6-month sabbatical from my workshop teaching. I've now purchased a collection of further vintage windows in all shapes and sizes and am looking forward to creating a whole series of windows with a view!'
