The Society has conferred Honorary Fellowship to Carol Naylor.

Carol Naylor

The Society of Designer Craftsmen are delighted to announce Carol Naylor FSDC as their newest Honorary Fellow. This accolade is in recognition of both her service given to the Society during her tenure as Chair from 2006 – 2010, as well as demonstrating appreciation of her very significant body of work as a textile artist. Over the decades Carol's work has been included in many exhibitions and her pieces commissioned by private collectors and corporate clients. She has taught and continued to offer support as a regular assessor on new SDC member applications.

Carol was also co-curator for twelve years of the annual winter exhibition, 'Designer Crafts' for the Society at the Mall Galleries and also worked as a Lecturer for 25 yrs at the University of Chichester (known in earlier years as Bishop Otter College).

Carol said of her award:

'Back in the 1990s I became a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen. It was such an exciting adventure. I was suddenly introduced to stunning jewellery, ceramics and furniture amongst many other crafts. I began to help curate the exhibitions at the Mall Galleries with Heidi Lichterman, who taught me so much about the importance of placing work sensitively and carefully. I loved the experience, with the excitement of seeing the exhibition take shape, often coming together at the very last moment! Being promoted to Honorary Fellow is something I never expected. I am thrilled and honoured to receive this. It means a great deal to me and is something I will always treasure, thank you so much.'
