Designer Crafts 2018 featured in Evening Standard

Barbara Chandler of the Evening Standard has highlighted the SDC’s Designer Crafts 2018 event as one of five best design events happening in London in July. The exhibition and shop within the show are currently open daily from 10 - 5 pm and will end on Saturday 21st July.

Surrey Artists' Open Studios - SDC members Joe Szabo (MSDC) & Stephanie Wright (MSDC) have been shortlisted for Surrey Artist of the Year shortlisted, with an exhibition at New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham starting in September.

Fundraising for a Sustainable Future

In our 130 year the Society of Designer Craftsmen is excited to be working with Elliot Payne Architects to ensure th Society continues to be the success it is today. To help secure our future, we are currently fundraising to refurbish our headquarters in London's vibrant Shoreditch to provide a members gallery for public exhibitions and creative spaces where members can meet clients and take part in workshops. 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

Julie Heaton LSDC has had her free machine embroidered drawing selected for this year's Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition. The piece, entitled 'The Bristol 2 Litre Engine', can be found hanging in Grayson Perry's yellow gallery. The RA show continues until 20th August.

Apply now for Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travel Grants

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust is now accepting applications for travel grants for change-makers. Many of our members have been previously accepted into the Churchill Fellowship and we would encourage our members to look at these potentially life-changing grants. Deadline 16 September 2018 for travel in 2019.

Sam Fanaroff FSDC awarded British Empire Medal

Sam Fanaroff, SDC Fellow and founder of the Sussex Guild of Craftsmen, has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2018 for his services to Crafts. Sam will be exhibiting alongside other Fellows, Members and Licentiates of the Society at the Designer Crafts 'Hand of the Maker' exhibition at Chelsea College of Art in July 2018.
