Call for new members: North Surrey Group of the SDC
The North Surrey group of the SDC was formed in 1993 with the aim of holding regular, local exhibitions. The present members working within their different disciplines- ceramics, jewellery and textiles - showcase work and present exhibitions that appeal to all. Glass artist, Wendy Newhofer (MSDC) is thrilled to be invited by award-winning garden designer Helen Elks-Smith to design and make a window for her RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019 garden the Warner's Distillery Garden. The window is made of 12 panes of glass and the images relate to the immediate environment of the Warner's Distillery who are sponsoring the garden. Helen Elks-Smith has been a great supporter of the SDC, having previously commissioned Tori McLean (MSDC) to create textile shrouds for her award winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show ‘The City Of London Corporation Oak Processionary Moth Garden’ in 2014.
This original '200 Top Authors Award' book in 1993 has been updated and revamped in 2018. A unique feature of this book is the Themes section - a gallery of mouthwatering designs mostly chosen by Jeremy and including the work of Fred Baier, Katie Walker, Thomas Vaughan, Jolyon Yates, Christine Meyer-Eaglestone, Andrew Lawton and John Makepeace.
