The society promotes and supports the work of creative thinkers, designers and makers who continue to innovate in the crafts through their exploration of materials and skills.
People's Choice Prize
Each year the Society gives the ‘People’s Choice Prize’ to a member taking part in their annual exhibition. This year the prize was awarded to fused glass artist Nancy Goodens (LSDC).

The Alan Peters Furniture Award 2024
An annual award celebrating the legacy of the late Alan Peters OBE, one of Britain’s most prominent furniture designer-makers of the late 20th century (who was a Fellow of the Society). It aims to encourage talent in the craft of furniture design and making. Applications are now open and the entry deadline is 31st July 2024.

Gane Trust Award for Excellence
Each year the Gane Trust gives an Award for Excellence to a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen taking part in their annual exhibition. This year the prize was awarded to textile artist Marian Jazmik (MSDC).
The Poseidon Loving Cup
A unique hand raised silver and gilt 'Poseidon Loving Cup' inset with gems and pearls. Handcrafted by Steve Wager FSDC, marked for Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee and the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths.

Lockdown Project
'Shadow of my Former Self' is a body of work by printmaker and Society member Sheila de Rosa MSDC. It will be featured in 'Women Writing Lockdown' at the House of Commons, Westminster on 28th June 2023.

SDC member Susannah Weiland will be exhibiting at London Craft Week
Embroidery artist Susannah Weiland LSDC is one of the Society's new members. She will be exhibiting for the first time at London Craft Week as part of Future Icons at Oxo Tower Wharf's iconic Bargehouse, alongside over 70 other artists and makers.

'What do you do all day?' creative research project
Society fellow and glassmaker Adam Hussain FSDC is one of six freelancers in the West Midlands chosen to be involved in this project with the Centre for Cultural and Media Policy Studies at the University of Warwick.
Touchmark Gallery
Society member Lilly Reid LSDC has recently launched an online gallery called Touchmark that showcases a diverse collection of art forms ranging from Ceramics to Tapestries.
