Michele White FSDC
Jewellery

From a young age Michele would design and make her own clothes and when she left school trained to be a ceramicist. Later she discovered working with metal and making jewellery. When she visited the Lalique exhibition at Goldsmiths Hall her whole view of jewellery changed. She was excited by his feel for different materials used together to make a beautiful piece of art. It is not the value of the parts that are important, it is the visual effect that matters. She totally identifies with this way of thinking and continued to put these precepts into practice.
She uses intriguing gemstones and precious metals . Many pieces are created in layers with textured metal juxtaposed against polished metal and matt pieces and smooth stones next to crystal encrusted metals ; contrasts are integral.
Studied at Birmingham School of jewellery and later lectured in Gemmology at Birmingham City University.
Michele has a Gallery in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. www.artisan-alchemy.co.uk
Michele is Vice President and Past President of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists
