Wendy Newhofer MSDC
Glass Making & Stained Glass
Using sheets of float glass, Wendy makes elegant glass pieces with a painterly quality to them. Much of her imagery draws upon direct experience with the natural world. Inclusions of metal leaf and wire enable her to ‘draw’ within the glass, creating permanent evocations of transient natural forms such as trees, leaves and seed pods.
Wendy combines metals with float glass to create colour within her pieces. She uses a mixture of metal leaf, foil and wire which perform a magical alchemy when the glass is heated in the kiln. Her work is all about the materials she employs and playing to their strengths.
Her glass incorporates a strongly individual sense of design and she takes inspiration from such diverse sources as fabric designs and landscapes
