Biography Back to top

Originally from a village in Buckinghamshire, where William worked out of his studio in the back garden, he moved to Hereford to study at the College of Arts for his primary degree in Contemporary Applied Arts. Having reaffirmed his passion for ceramics he went onto study for his MA in Contemporary Craft investigating glazing and finishing techniques in much greater detail. This lead onto invitations to exhibit at The Mall Galleries, London, FreshAir Quennington and Art in Clay Hatfield to name a few.

During his studies William developed a passion for creating studies of dogs. Their infinite variety and intrinsic qualities really inspired him and lead to an ever expanding diversity of outcomes. William strives to capture not just the physicality of the subject but something of their emotion and the subtle interplay between human and dog. Each piece he creates is unique and often with a specific dog in mind. William continues to experiment, explore and discover from his studio in Hereford where he is now permanently based having made his home there.
