About Corinne
Corinne Price makes colourful ceramic vessels that explore colour and pattern. Using pigmented porcelain, she combines several methods including the Japanese techniques of Nerikomi and Neriage. The effect is deceptively simple in appearance - with clean lines and seamless joins, each vessel is made in stages of many sections of clay. Inspired by the rhythms of life and the endless possibilities of new colour compositions, Corinne endeavours to imbue internal spaces with colour optimism.

Biography Back to top

A Northern Ireland based ceramicist, Corinne Price makes colourful porcelain vessels using clay which is first coloured with stains and oxides. She builds collections of vessels that contrast and complement one another using methods that include the Japanese techniques of ‘nerikomi’ hand-building with coloured clay pattern, and ‘neriage’, wheel-throwing with coloured clay pattern.

Corinne is interested in the variations that can be achieved in pattern and form in groups of vessels that share a colour theme, and how changes to any of the individual elements can completely alter the dynamic. She tends to limit herself to two or three main colours in each simple form, to achieve a sense of unity and harmony.

Corinne’s work is well-recognised in Northern Ireland and is stocked in Craft NI, the sector-lead body for the promotion and development of the design-led contemporary craft industry there. Corinne completed a Bachelor’s Award in Fine Art at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design in 2005 and a Ceramics HND at Belfast Metropolitan College in 2024.
