Arlene Shawcross MSDC

Stitched & Constructed Textiles

About Arlene
Arlene is a textile artist and teacher of many years' experience. Much of her work is inspired by her love of roses and music. This stems from her childhood in Cheshire where she grew up in a musical family where the garden overflowed with roses. Arlene is a pianist as well as a textile artist and the music she plays often becomes inspiration for her textile pieces. Her own observational drawings of roses also form a basis for her work and Arlene aims to capture their beauty, their strength and also their delicacy.
Biography Back to top

Arlene enjoys creating beautiful pieces of textile art to wear or to decorate the home. Her lively colourful pieces are inspired by her love of music and flowers, particularly roses. Her pieces combine a rich use of colour and intricate design. She exhibits frequently in England and Ireland and in 2013 was invited to exhibit in St. Johns in Newfoundland.

Her work is held in private collections in England, Ireland and the USA and in public collections in Ireland.
